What's in a name?

Now this may sound crazy, however, the first thing I actually came up with on this entire journey, before I even planned this to be an actual goal, was the name. Castaway coffee. The reason I like this name is twofold. The first is that growing up I always felt a bit isolated both socially and in terms of my interests. I had a tendency to flit from hobby to hobby, and also found it hard to communicate with people my age. But the first memory I have of a genuine interest that I held onto and the first genuine friend I ever made came at the same moment, whilst baking at school. So Castaway Coffee as a blog and just an idea kind of represents my own hobbies, in that baking and cooking provided a place for me to just relax and be myself. It helped me stop being adrift in a way, and also gave me a place that I could just be myself. Hence castaway, referring to somebody has been set adrift, as being distractible and wandering in my hobbies and ideas actually found a focus and a passion within baking and cooking. The other reason I chose the name is that I have always loved vintage and second hand furniture and decor and love the idea of using it within a coffee shop to create a cosy and almost homely vibe, and in that way it's almost a bit like using things that have washed up on shore. So am I going about this a little bit backwards? Yes, but hey it's kind of how I've always approached things. Anyway, I don't know if this blog is actually going to be seen or if it's going to end up just being a sort of journal for me, but either way I'm happy I made it. So reader or future me, welcome to the blog, a home for testing recipes, making coffee and just general planning and thoughts that I hope might be of some help and interest to you.
